Wildlife Habitat Creation

With more than 270 bird species, 65 types of reptiles and amphibians, countless numbers of fish, and several important species of mammals including the Louisiana Black Bear living in the Atchafalaya Swamp, protecting and establishing wildlife habitats is a critical task in preventing future declines of these species. In addition to protecting critical wildlife, it is also important to sustain game species for the bountiful sportsmen and tourism activities that take place in the area. Scouts will work with conservation organizations and agencies to identify the specific needs of each species, and create or improve habitats.
